 BOV Boost Control

Fa'aaliga Taua: Please read this document thoroughly before beginning installation.
UIGA
The unit is shipped with a 3-pin connector on the boost control input. A pink jumper wire is installed between pins A and B. Do not remove this jumper until all wiring steps and actuator adjustments are complete. Once installation and adjustment are finalized, you may choose one of the following boost control options:

  • Boost Control Lockout Plug
  • Boost Knob
  • SB-DCA Module (enables boost control via ECU PWM [] output)

  • RED wire – Power
Connect to a switched 12V source that is active when the key is in the start/run position. A reliable option, if available, is the vehicle’s power outlet/cigarette lighter circuit. Ensure the chosen source only supplies 12V with the key in start/run.
    • The SmoothBoost system should be properly protected with a 5-10 amp fuse
  • Uaea BLACK: Ground Connect to a clean ground point, ideally the PCM ground location or directly to the battery to avoid electrical noise.
  • PURPLE wire: Throttle Signal Requires an Analog 0-5volt signal Critical Warning: Never handle this wire while the unit is powered on or while the 14-pin connector is plugged into the controller. Leave the main connector unplugged until all other wiring is complete. NEVER apply more than 5 volts

Drive-by-Wire cars : Connect to the accelerator pedal position sensor (APPS) 05V signal
Some kits ship with this connection as plug and play making this next section irrelevant.
*Most throttle bodies can be tapped for this signal instead, but some systems such as newer GM can not.
With key on, check with a multimeter: Pedal released: ~1.5V or less. Wide open throttle (WOT): ~3.8V +

Common points are:

  • Mopar/Ford: Pin 2 of APPS
  • GM: Pin 5 (Pin E) of APPS

For Drive by Cable: Connect to the TPS sensor 0-5volt feedback output

These wires activate momentarily when provided with a ground signal.

  • Blue Wire Boost Cut
Opens the bypass valve, eliminating boost. Can be triggered by devices such as failsafe AFR gauges, low-level water/methanol systems, or aftermarket ECUs.
  • Tan Wire Scramble Mode
Forces full boost operation, equivalent to maximum boost knob setting or bypass plug installation.

With key on/engine off, press the throttle:

  • Idle…………………. actuator open
  • WOT ……………..actuator closed

CEL or Limp Mode – The controller must power up with the engine/PCM. Check power, ground, and actuator function (key on/engine off test).
