The table protector is shipped rolled to minimize creasing. Follow these steps to ensure a smooth and flat application:
- Tatala ma Fa'amama: Carefully unroll the table protector. Wipe away any dust or debris from both sides of the protector and your tabletop using a damp cloth. Ensure the tabletop is clean and dry before proceeding.
- Flattening the Protector: Due to packaging, the protector may initially have a slight curl. Several methods can help it lay flat:
- Hair Dryer Method: Use a hair dryer on medium heat, holding it approximately 10 cm (4 inches) away from the mat's surface. Gently warm the material to help it relax and flatten.
- Weight Application: Place heavy, flat objects (such as books) evenly across the surface of the protector overnight to encourage it to flatten.
- Fa'aaliga o le la: Expose the unrolled PVC cover to direct sunlight for several hours. The warmth will help the material become more pliable and flatten.
- Warm Water Immersion: For stubborn curls, steep the protector in warm water for a few minutes, then lay it flat and smooth it out.
- Application to Tabletop: For optimal adhesion and to prevent air bubbles, especially on smooth surfaces like glass, marble, or varnished wood, lightly mist the tabletop with water before placing the protector. Carefully lay the protector flat, starting from one end and smoothing it out with a plastic sheet or soft cloth to remove any trapped air bubbles.

Gently lift a section of the protector and re-smooth it down using a plastic sheet or soft cloth, pushing air bubbles towards the edges. - Problem: Protector appears cloudy or has marks.
