Follow these steps to properly wire your Leviton 2761 locking plug. Refer to the accompanying video for visual guidance.

- Ia mautinoa ua Pepe le Malosi: Before beginning, verify that the power to the cable is completely off at the circuit breaker to prevent electrical shock.
- Identify Plug Configuration: The faceplate of the plug is stamped with the NEMA configuration, amperage, ma voltage. Confirm these match your requirements.
- Disassemble the Plug:

- Feed the cable through the loosened strain relief and then through the body housing.
- Strip the cord jacket according to the diagram on the instruction sheet (typically about 1.5 inches). Remove the stripped cord jacket to expose the individual wires.

- Cut the green (ground) wire to approximately 1 inch in length.
- Strip approximately 5/8 inch of insulation from all remaining wires using wire strippers.
- Fa'afeso'ota'i le Uaea Eleele:
- Insert the green (ground) wire into the wire well of the green (ground) terminal screw, located in the center of the device.
- Tighten the terminal screw securely with a Phillips head screwdriver.
- Fa'afeso'ota'i le Uaea Neutral:
- Insert the white (neutral) wire into the wire well of the silver terminal screw.
- Tighten the terminal screw securely.
- Fa'afeso'ota'i uaea o totoe:
- Insert the remaining three wires into the wire wells of the brass terminals.
- Tighten each brass terminal screw securely.
- Reassemble the Plug:
- Slide the faceplate back into the body housing, ensuring the channel guide on the body housing aligns perfectly with the faceplate.
- Tighten the quick screws on the faceplate with a Phillips head screwdriver.
- Secure Strain Relief:
- Tighten both screws on the strain relief to secure the cable.
- Fa'aaliga: If your wire is larger than the groove on the strain relief, a section of the strain relief can be removed to accommodate larger wire sizes.

Once properly wired and assembled, the Leviton 2761 locking plug is ready for use. Insert the plug into a compatible NEMA L19-30R receptacle and twist to lock it into place, ensuring a secure electrical connection. To disconnect, twist in the opposite direction and pull.

Regularly inspect the plug for any signs of wear, damage, or loose connections. Ensure the cable jacket and strain relief are intact to prevent wire exposure. Clean the plug exterior with a dry cloth as needed. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents. If any damage is observed, discontinue use and replace the plug.
