The Orbit 56854 Hose End Water Flow Meter is designed to accurately measure water consumption from your outdoor hose faucet. This device helps in monitoring water usage for various tasks such as watering plants, filling pools, or other outdoor activities, promoting water conservation. It provides readings in both single-use and total accumulated water volume, displayed in either gallons or liters. This meter is intended for outdoor use with cold water only.

2. Connecting the Meter

  1. Thread the female end of the flow meter onto your standard 3/4-inch outdoor faucet or hose. Hand-tighten until secure.
  2. Attach your garden hose to the male end of the flow meter. Hand-tighten until secure.
  3. Ensure the flow direction arrow on the meter points in the direction of water flow (away from the faucet).

3. Unit Selection (Gallons or Liters)

After battery installation, the meter will display the default unit. To switch between gallons (GAL) and liters (L), press and hold the TOE FAI button for approximately 3 seconds until the unit changes on the LCD screen.

The Orbit 56854 meter features two measurement modes: LALO (single-use) and AOFAIGA (accumulated). Use the FAAALIA button to switch between these modes and the TOE FAI button to clear readings.

1. Measuring Single-Use Flow (FLOW Mode)

  1. Oomi le FAAALIA button until the screen shows 'FLOW' or a similar indicator for single-use measurement.
  2. Turn on the water. The meter will begin displaying the current volume of water flowing through it.
  3. When you turn off the water, the final volume for that single use will remain on the display for a short period before automatically resetting for the next use.
  4. To manually reset the FLOW reading at any time, press the TOE FAI faamau tasi.

2. Measuring Total Accumulated Flow (TOTAL Mode)

  1. Oomi le FAAALIA button until the screen shows 'TOTAL' or a similar indicator for accumulated measurement.
  2. This mode continuously tracks the total volume of water that has passed through the meter since the last manual reset.
  3. The TOTAL reading will not automatically reset after each use.
  4. To reset the TOTAL accumulated reading, press and hold the TOE FAI button for approximately 3 seconds until the display clears.

When the display becomes dim or unresponsive, it is time to replace the CR2032 battery. Follow the battery installation steps outlined in the Setup section.

Disconnect the water flow meter from the hose and faucet before the first frost or during periods of non-use in cold weather. Store the meter indoors in a dry, temperature-controlled environment to prevent damage from freezing water.

  • No Display / Dim Display: Check the CR2032 battery. Ensure it is inserted correctly with the positive (+) side up. Replace the battery if necessary.
  • Faitauga le sa'o: Ensure the meter is installed correctly with the flow arrow pointing in the direction of water flow. Verify there are no significant leaks at the connections.
  • Leaks i So'oga: Ensure the rubber washers are properly seated in both ends of the meter. Hand-tighten connections firmly. Do not overtighten.
  • Meter Not Resetting: For single-use (FLOW) mode, it should reset automatically or with a single press of the RESET button. For total (TOTAL) mode, hold the RESET button for 3 seconds. If issues persist, try replacing the battery.
